CycleKiDS Full Moon Ride
February 11, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 7:00 pm| Free
The CycleKiDS are at it again! Join our full moon, fun ride for kids, kids at heart, and their families. The CycleKiDS Ride takes place every full moon at Rondebosch Common. It’s a fun, safe way of introducing children to cycling and getting the whole family out and about.
Those who’d like to join in the action should meet at the lawn next to the parking lot on Sawkins Road at 6.30 pm. The ride should last for about half an hour and will be at a slow, kid-friendly pace. See route and location map here>

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the whole family join in?
Yes! This is a family friendly ride that encourages safe cycling. Our aim is to create awareness for the growing presence of kids and families on bikes and the need for all road users to respect other users of the road. We are also bringing together families who bike, providing a positive community experience to show children how much fun riding your bike can be!
Is the ride safe?
Absolutely. We are riding around Rondebosch Common. This is a traffic free pedestrian and cycle route. However, you should still be very aware of your own child’s location and behavior as you are ultimately responsible for your child’s safety and ensuring they ride safely.
How long are the rides?
The ride is short, typically 2.5 km at a 8-10km/h pace around the Rondebosch Common. It lasts about 1/2 – 1 hour with stops and depending on how many laps of the Common the kids want to do.
Are kids on balance bikes, training wheels or tricycles allowed?
Rides are suitable for kids on using training wheels, balance bikes or those who are riding their own bike. Skateboards and anything else that rolls are welcome too! We celebrate the fact that Kids are Traffic Too and aim for family fun on vehicles that don’t hurt the future!
Do parents have to cycle to?
While we do encourage parents to cycle with us, it is OK if they prefer not to. We have volunteers on the ride who will guide the kids round the Common and lots of park benches for waiting parents 😉
