This year we are inviting Capetonians to #GoCarFree on the 22 September – to get out of their cars and onto the streets and join us in celebrating World Carfree Day.
CarFree Day is all about making a mental shift to allow yourself more choices in the way you travel and to break free from car dependency. This may be as simple as walking to the store instead of driving or commuting to work by bicycle or bus.
When you leave the car at home, you will be surprised how much freedom, flexibility and adventure you can find without the hassles of traffic jams, parking and soaring fuel costs. It’s also a great way to stay healthy and active, and do your bit to save the planet. We are pretty sure that a lot of people will like having more choices, if they just try them. Need some inspiration to take the leap – check out these stories of Cape Town’s bicycle commuters.
HOW CAN I BE PART OF CAR FREE DAY?
LEAVE YOUR CAR AT HOME! It’s obvious, but we understand how hard this first step can be 😉
RIDE WITH US – Celebrate carfree mobility with us as we ride with #PromenadeMondays. Meeting at Queen’s Beach parking lot at 6pm for a roll along the Promenade.
DON’T STOP HERE – Do it every day! Let World Carfree Day be a showcase for just how our cities might look like, feel like, and sound like carfree… 365 days a year.
