In August 2014 we launched Bike Nite – a series of community engagement and social events. Hosted by Truth Cafe (in Buitenkant Street), Bike Nite features Pecha Kucha style talks (short, engaging, inspiring) and open conversations that explore different aspect of Cape Town’s bicycle culture from pressing advocacy issues to bicycle design and cycling tips. We invite you to join us, come along share your ideas and meet CPT’s bicycle community.
Bike Nite kicks off in 2016 with an exciting evening of intrigue and adventure hosted at Truth Coffee. Join us for a night of film, talks and armchair travel, as South African bicycle adventurers share their journeys great and small. Solo Adventurer Kayden Kleinhans brings to life his thrilling 53 000km trip around the globe and Tegan Phillips shares humorous anecdotes about cycling through Africa. Closer to home, photographer and cyclist David Malan introduces us to the world of micro-adventures…

“The right to the city is a collective right. It is more that the right of an individual to access the city but a right to change and reinvent the city to what it is we desire” – David Harvey.
In this edition of Bike Nite we explore what it means to inhabit the city streets asking them to be more. We invite everyone passionate about imagining a better city and the spaces which connect us, to learn with us as we hear from the experiences of 3 individuals currently shaping city streets. This interactive session is not just for people on bicycles, but for people on a mission. View event photos >
This month Bike Nite goes behind the scenes to uncover some of Cape Town’s exciting fringe cycling events, as well as unpack the city’s cycle network developments and advocacy issues. Come and meet Cape Town’s mobility designers, dreamers and makers at the first of our monthly Bike Nite events at Truth Coffee Roasting.
‘Designed for Motion’ will feature Pecha Kucha style talks around bicycle and mobility design as well as an exhibition of locally designed bicycles, skateboards and electric scooters. Our first event forms part of the Open Design Cape Town programme and falls on Third Thursdays (so there are lots of things happening in and around the venue).
