CBD to Salt River Commute – 4.2 km

Whether your are heading out to the Old Biscuit Mill, Neighbourhood Goods Market for a morning of fun, fashion and food or are commuting to work in Salt River or Woodstock, this easy route will get you there hassle free. Starting at the Company Gardens, the route cuts through Zonnebloem and Woodstock to bring you out at the Old Biscuit Mill in Salt River. There are lots of interesting things to see on the way and some great bike friendly coffee spots and shops. The route covers an easy +-4km (one way) using a mixture of dedicated cycle lanes and recommended routes along shared roadways. With a few savvy short cuts and backstreet meanders thrown in the mix.

1. START COMPANY GARDENS – cnr Wale and Adderly
2. Turn right onto Wale St
3. Turn right onto Bureau St
4. Continue onto Spin St
5. Continue onto Mostert St
6. Turn left onto Korporasiestraat
7. Take the 1st right onto Caledon St
*(Optional detour to bypass Tennant St.)
8. Turn left onto Tennant St
9. Take the 1st right onto Keizersgracht
10. Turn left onto Chapel St
Go through 1 roundabout
11. Turn left onto Searle St
12. Take the 2nd left onto Sir Lowry Rd
13. Turn right onto Selwyn St
14. Turn right onto Newmarket St/R102
Continue to follow R102

*Tennant St Bypass via Pedestrian Bridge
Left into the CPUT parking lot. Head for the bottom of the broad pedestrian crossing that ramps over Tennant. Ride up the ramp, over the street and down the spiral on the other side. Follow the red line along the paving to exit via the ramped walkway onto Darling Street. Cross over onto the eastern carriageway of Darling Street.
