Iyeza Express – Medicine on Wheels

While collecting medication for his grandparents at a local clinic, 21-year-old South African entrepreneur Sizwe Nzima realised that many homes in poorer areas in the city experienced the same problem – lacking a means of transport, money, time and energy to collect medicine from public health facilities.  He also saw the need to aid local hospitals that were struggling to cope with a large increase in chronic patients.

To solve these problems, he founded Iyeza Express, a bicycle courier service that collects chronic medication from public health facilities and delivers it to directly patients homes.

Today Iyeza Express is a thriving, Forbes-recognised and award-winning business, delivering much-needed medication to over 250 people in Khayelitsha, Cape Town and creating employment for youth, who have basic skills – like the ability to cycle.
