100in1Day is a citizen-driven festival of doing. On the 25th of May there will be over 100 interventions lead by citizens to improve their city. It is very exciting to see a number of bicycle and urban revitalization initiatives – from bicycle polo to open streets, citizens are taking to the streets, connecting with each other and transforming their urban environment. Join in the fun and be part of the change.
Who says you need a horse to play a game of polo? Join in the bike polo game.
Lower Main Rd, Observatory at 1pm. Everyone is welcome!
The Fringe is installing bicycle racks to cater for their growing population of cyclists. They are utilising The Fringe as an experimental zone to test urban interventions and learn from them and possibly apply these learnings elsewhere in the city. Go test it out by popping into the Fringe.
On the 25th may Josh Ramsey will begin his cycle from Cape Town to Zambia in support of Greenpops Trees for Zambia Campaign.
He has created an NGO called SailCycleTrek which is a carbon free expedition platform which promotes valuable brands in support of worthy causes. This is their pilot mission. Seeking out change agents and facilitating their support.

The Fringe District is claiming back some space for pedestrians. On Saturday 25 May, the parking space outside Truth Coffee Shop will be transformed into a vibrant platform for social interactions and even more interventions. Come and join us for a cup of coffee and a chat about the neighbourhood. Get involved in this incredible project.
Truth Coffee, Buitenkant St. 36 at 10am
Inspired by Bogota’s Ciclovia, Open Streets are a temporary network of car-free areas and routes throughout the city. The concept has been successfully implemented around the world and the 25th of May will be the formal launch of Cape Town’s own Programme. The plan is to “open” Lower Main Road in Observatory (from Main Rd to Albert Rd.) on 25 May, 2013 from 13:00 to 17:00 to people and closing it to motorized vehicles. This will create a space for residents to interact, play, or just set up a chair and hang out.
Lower Main Road (Observatory/Salt River) from 1pm to 5pm
